Connect and use Slate's Sprout Social Integration

Streamline your workflow with Slate's Sprout Social integration. Save the step of downloading media and push it directly from Slate into Sprout Social to make scheduling your content more efficient.

Generate a Sprout Social Access Token

For this integration, you'll need Sprout Social's Premium Analytics offering to access an API token created by Sprout Social. 

  1. Open Sprout Social 
  2. Click on 'Settings'
  3. Navigate to API tokens
  4. Click on 'Create API Token' in the upper right corner of the screen
  5. You can enter whatever text you'd like, but we recommend naming it "Slate Integration" 
  6. Once created, copy the token to your clipboard before heading over to Slate 

If you do not see the ability to access the API token, please contact your Sprout Customer Success Manager, or their support team to learn more. 

How to Connect Sprout Social

  1. Login to the Slate web dashboard. Select the 'Integrations' tab located in the lefthand toolbar

  2. Underneath Sprout Social, click 'Connect'
  3. Paste in your access token (steps listed above)
  4. A green check mark will appear on the Sprout Social integration widget to indicate you are connected

NOTE: You will need to be an Admin on both Slate and Sprout Social to connect integrations. 

How to Use the Sprout Social Integration

The Sprout Social integration can be utilized in two different places in Slate: the Web Creation Studio and within the Content Hub. Once the integration is configured, Slate account users can use it throughout the Web app. 

1. When Creating Content:

  1. Open the Slate web creation studio 
  2. Select the black 'Create Content' button in the upper right hand corner of your dashboard and either select create new project, or choose from one of the platform prompts provided

  3. If you chose create new project, select your desired ratio in the upper left hand corner of your screen

  4. Start creating content. Drop in your media, add your branded graphics, filters, backgrounds, or text until you reach your desired result 
  5. When ready, navigate to the black 'Export' button in the upper right hand corner of your screen and select 'Share to Sprout'

  6. Select your Sprout group in the dropdown to access specific profiles to publish your content to. You can select multiple profiles in a group 
  7. Next, decide whether you'd like to schedule your draft and and have it displayed on Sprout's Content Calendar, or have it unscheduled and sent to Sprout's draft folder 
  8. Add caption ideas, descriptions or notes to your post
  9. Adjust your file name, format and quality settings and click 'Export' to send to Sprout Social 

2. From the Content Hub:

  1. Open the Slate web creation studio 
  2. Navigate to the Content Hub and select the content you want to push to Sprout Social 
  3. Select Share to Sprout in the bottom right of the screen

  1. Select your Sprout group in the dropdown to access specific profiles to publish your content to. You can select multiple profiles in a group 
  2. Next, decide whether you'd like to schedule your draft and and have it displayed on Sprout's Content Calendar, or have it unscheduled and sent to Sprout's draft folder 
  3. Hit Share to Sprout 

Finding your Content in Sprout Social

Your content will always be sent to Sprout Social as a draft, meaning that you'll have the chance to give it a final review before publishing. You'll be able to find your drafted content in two different places in Sprout Social, depending on whether or not you chose to schedule your draft when you sent it. 

1. Unscheduled Drafted Content in Sprout: 

  1. If you did not schedule your content, you'll find it in the Draft folder within Publishing

  2. Click the 'edit' Screenshot 2024-07-10 at 9.35.19 AMbutton and make any necessary changes to your content

  3. Unselect the draft check box

  4. Go to the bottom of the screen to schedule your content out, add it to the Sprout queue or publish immediately

2. Scheduled Drafted Content in Sprout:

  1. If you scheduled your content, you'll find it as a draft in the Calendar

  3. Unselect the draft check box

  4. Select 'Schedule'. Now that this content is no longer a draft, it will automatically publish at the date and time it's scheduled for  

Tagging your Content in Sprout Social 

To get even more out of this partnership between Slate and Sprout Social, make sure to tag your content in Sprout. This allows you to quickly group sponsored content, game day activations and everything else your team is doing, making reporting on these efforts and finding key metrics easier than ever.

FAQs: 

Q: Can I access the Sprout Social integration on the mobile app(s)? 

A: No, right now, the integration is only available on in the web creation studio. Mobile access is coming soon! 

Q: Can I set up media integrations if I am not an Admin user?

A: No, you must be an Admin on Slate, and in the associated integration application to connect both platforms properly. 

Q: Where can I find the content I send to Sprout Social? 

A: The content you push from Slate to Sprout Social will be in a draft format. If you schedule your content, you can find your draft on the Content Calendar. If you don't attach a scheduled publish date and time, then you can find your draft in Drafts in the publishing section of Sprout Social. 

Q: Will my content automatically publish when I send it from Slate to Sprout Social? 

A: No, your content will go into Sprout Social as a draft, meaning that you'll need to review it and change it's status out of a draft in order for it to publish at the selected date and time.
