How to Add & Use Intros/Outros

Brand your video content on Slate with intro and outro cards.

What’s in this article:

What are Intro and Outro Cards?

Intro cards are an introductory screen that appears at the beginning of a video, displaying the title or branding, while an outro is a concluding screen that appears at the end, typically showing credits, calls to action, branding, or additional information.

Intro and outro cards help establish a video's identity and purpose right from the start, and provide viewers with important information or calls to action at the end, making your videos more impactful and actionable.

Sizes & File Types

Intro and outro cards are images or videos that are added to the beginning or ending of your video content in Slate. They can be png, .mov, .jpg, or .mp4 files and are available in 9:16 and 16:9 formats. MP4 files must be an Apple ProRes or HEVC file. Videos and images must be under 20mb in size and no larger than 3840x2160px wide. Intros and outros can include audio if desired.

Uploading Intro and Outro Cards

Admins and Brand Managers on Slate can add 9:16 or 16:9 intros and outros to their Brand Hub and select whether they’re open, end, or cards to be used for both. As with other asset types, you can add intro and outro cards by clicking on the 'plus' sign in the card drawer, or by dragging and dropping. Learn more about adding assets here, or upgrading user privileges.

These cards can also be added to a collection if desired.

By default, intros and outros will be uploaded to both categories, but can be removed from where they aren't needed by selecting the three dots on the asset, and tapping on the card type dropdown menu to change.Screenshot 2024-11-11 at 2.32.58 PM
